Calico Critters Townhouse by Alison Thompson
The Calico Critters Townhouse is a classic toy that has been around for decades. The townhouse was released in 1984 by Epoch Ltd. in Japan and has become one of the most popular holiday toys for 2010. Designed for children ages 3 and older, this toy offers an imaginative escape for any child. Every furry creature needs a home and this product is the perfect way to enhance your experience with little Calico Critters.
Calico Critters can be purchased in pairs or in families. These toys range from bears, dogs, frogs, cats, mice, bunnies and a whole lot more. You can purchase your favorite mammal family that comes with clothes and objects such as baby bottles or food. At the end of the day your critters need a place to sleep and children will enjoy creating the perfect home for their Calico Critters with the The Calico Critters Townhouse.
Inside the box you will find everything you need to make a comfortable home for these pretend creatures. The house is built with four rooms for living, eating or sleeping. A fifth divider can be placed in the house to make a fifth room for a growing Calico Critters family. The home is 2 levels and there is a staircase that allows creatures to move freely between letters. The staircase is not permanently placed in home. It can be moved to any desirable location.
Though the home appears as a complete home, you can open the house to access the inside. Here you can decorate the Calico Critters' home as your imagination desires. Though the home does not come with furniture, these sets are sold separately. You can purchase kitchen, living room and bedroom sets, or you could make your own for a personal touch. Multiple sets are available for each room.
The home includes light fixtures throughout the townhome, but batteries are needed to run these. Batteries are not included inside the original package, so you will need to purchase two AA batteries.
The Calico Critters Townhouse is only 12 x 12 x 12 inches which means it is the perfect size to sit on a table in a bedroom or playroom. Because the townhome opens and closes, it can easily be stored when it is not being used. You can even store the animals and pieces inside neatly when the house is closed. Assembly is required for this product, but the pieces are easy enough for older children to assemble without the help of parents. If children wish to move the room divider or stairs, it is also easy enough for a child to complete the task.
The Calico Critters Townhouse is an excellent investment and one that can be handed down for years to come. The creative possibilities are near endless as you can adjust the furniture at any time and continue to add decorations to the home. Children can even add jungle gyms and grass outside to further establish a home for their furry friends.
